Privacy policy

Scene Voice reads your scripts on your iPhone or iPad. This page says exactly what can leave the device, when, and where it goes.

Last updated 26 October 2026.

Scene Voice is made by Bad Guy Good Guy Inc (“we”). This policy covers the Scene Voice app and this website, scenevoice.com.

The short version

  • Your scripts stay on your device. The voices run on the phone itself. There is no account, and nothing is uploaded on its own.
  • We never receive your scripts. Nothing the app sends us contains a script’s words.
  • No analytics, no tracking, no ads. The app and this website use no tracking tools and no advertising.
  • Two optional extras can go online. They are off until you switch them on, they use your own accounts, and they never touch a script you mark Confidential.
  • You can check. In the app, Settings → Privacy → What has left this device lists every request the app has made to the internet.

What stays on your device

Your scripts, their casting, your notes and pronunciations, the lines you record, your self-tape takes and the reports you make all stay on your iPhone or iPad. Like any app’s documents, they are part of your device’s own backup if you have one switched on, such as iCloud Backup. That backup is between you and Apple.

If you add a key for one of the optional extras, the key is kept in your device’s Keychain. It is never sent to us.

Anything you export or share, such as an audio file, a self tape or a breakdown, goes wherever you send it.

The two optional extras

Both are off until you switch them on in Settings. Both use an account and key of your own, and the app talks to that service directly. Nothing passes through us. A script marked Confidential is never sent to either one, and Private mode in Settings switches both off for every script.

  • ElevenLabs voices. When you choose an ElevenLabs voice for a part, the text of that part’s lines goes to ElevenLabs to be turned into audio. The app also asks ElevenLabs for your list of voices and checks your account.
  • Casting help, coverage and scene descriptions. If you connect Claude (Anthropic), ChatGPT (OpenAI) or Gemini (Google), the script text a feature needs goes to that service when you use the feature.

What those companies do with the text is governed by their own terms and privacy policies, which you accepted when you made the account.

What the app can send us, and only when you choose

None of these happens unless you act. None of them contains your script’s words.

  • A bug report. The description you write, an email address if you give one so we can reply, the app’s build number, your device type and iOS version, which voice and casting settings are on, and the app’s log of recent problems. The app shows you the full report before you send it.
  • A crash report. After a crash, the app shows you the crash note and the problem log and asks whether to send them. If you tick Send future reports automatically, later reports go without asking. They never go automatically in Private mode.
  • A license claim. If you claim the beta tester license: your name and email, the app’s build number, your reading time, an anonymous install code and the time of the claim. We use it to keep the claim order and to send your license at launch.

This website

  • The launch list. If you give us your email for the beta link, we send one reply with the link and one email at launch. Your address is used for nothing else. You can unsubscribe from the launch email, or ask us to delete your address at any time.
  • The contact form. Your email and your message, so we can reply.
  • No cookies, no analytics. The site sets no cookies and runs no tracking or analytics scripts.
  • Server logs. Our web host keeps the standard records any website server keeps, such as IP addresses and the pages requested, to run and protect the site.

Who handles it

We use a small number of companies to run the service. They handle your information only to provide it to us.

  • Netlify hosts this website and receives the forms, reports and license claims.
  • Resend sends the launch list email and the license confirmations.
  • Apple runs TestFlight, which delivers the beta. Apple may share with us what TestFlight collects under Apple’s own terms, such as the feedback and crash reports you send through TestFlight. Apple’s privacy policy covers that.

We don’t sell your information, and we don’t share it with anyone else unless the law requires it.

How long we keep it

We keep reports and messages for as long as they help us fix the app and answer you, and launch list addresses until launch, or until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. License claims are kept until the licenses they earned have been issued. Ask, and we delete what we hold about you.

Your choices and rights

Wherever you live, you can ask to see the information we hold about you, have it corrected, or have it deleted. Write to us through the support page. Most of what Scene Voice holds is on your own device, where deleting the app or a script removes it.

Children

Scene Voice is not directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If we change what the app or the site collects, we’ll update this page and its date first.
